Do you have a passion for PR, developing strategies to create awareness, and building relationships with clients and the media? If the answer is yes then we would love to hear from you. This is a really exciting opportunity for an individual with a passion for PR, communications and sport (specifically cycling, swimming and running) to join an ambitious, fast growing agency. As an Account Manager you will work closely with the Sponge Marketing team to deliver a range of PR and communications activities to support some of our clients, such as Cervelo, Craft, Free2Cycle, CycleGuard and many more. The Sponge team consists of a number of hardworking professionals dedicated to the success of the business. The environment is busy, dynamic, creative and fun.
Core responsibilities:
- Build strong communications strategies covering the media mix (print, broadcast, online and social media)
- Develop and maintain positive relationships with key media, colleagues and clients
- Oversee implementation and communications plans including research and idea generation, writing coherent and factually accurate press releases, writing well informed copy, interviewing for case studies, managing clients’ social media accounts, and event management
- Plan and manage events ranging from press events to photo calls for clients
- Plan and manage press trips
- Amend and improve press release copy drafted by account executive
- Evaluate, analyse and present PR coverage to clients
- Participate in and contribute to creative brainstorming sessions
- Manage budgets to ensure projects do not go over agreed cost
- Create and implement PR and social media campaigns
- Manage the production and distribution of written materials (press releases, blogs, Q&As and story ideas)
- Coordinate the production of artwork and other material assets as required (e.g.; video news releases and press kits)
- Create engaging and attention grabbing content
- Work with directors to prepare new business proposals and pitches
- Seek opportunities with clients to grow business and increase revenue
Skills and experience:
- Educated to degree standard, able to think through problems to find appropriate solutions, and challenge established work practices to improve services to clients
- 2-3 years PR and communications experience/or equivalent
- Proven creative thinking in campaign creative and development
- A self starter and highly motivated, organised individual with the ability to manage multiple projects
- Strong written, oral and interpersonal skills – clear communication is essential
- Ability to proactively seek and identify publicity opportunities to ensure maximum level of coverage is achieved
- Develop new media angles and place stories in a cross section of media outlets (print, broadcast and online)
- Understand and advise on on media handling including interview briefings and developing Q&As
- Good team-work ethic with a proactive mindset and approach
- Educated to degree level or equivalent in PR and Communications
Requirements:
- Essential – as passion for social media and marketing, and a keen interest in sport, specifically cycling, swimming and running
- Preferable – past experience of working within an agency and working with Google Docs
- Overall – the ability to work in a fast-paced, high growth environment and to be a team player
