Sponge Deliver Successful Uncharted 4 European Press Review Event

Sponge were responsible for the global launch of Sony PlayStation’s biggest game release of the year – Uncharted 4: A Thief’s End. The last in the franchise, Sponge were tasked with delivering a fitting large-scale experiential media event that launched the game with a bang.

Taking place on the 28th April 2016 in a 10th Century Castle located 40 minutes outside of Rome, the event comprised a presentation from Naughty Dog’s Bruce Straley, interviews with game developer Naughty Dog and voice over actors, gameplay and a series of immersive activities culminating in an evening Auction and Gala Dinner.

Castello Orsini provided a jaw-dropping backdrop to the event, with the venue reflecting an Italian location included in the game. Media attendees participated in a series of Nathan Drake-esque challenges within the castle grounds and local village including Hand to Hand Defense Combat (a lesson in unarmed defense combat), Drake’s Thief Trail (a series of challenges including throwing Drake’s grappling hook) and the Hunt for Avery’s Cross (a search through the local village for clues hidden on crosses).

The event was considered a huge success resulting in fantastic preview coverage in the build up to game launch on 10th May 2016.
